When your hair does the talking!

Updated: Aug 25, 2023

Bored of your looks? Want to try something different? Apprehensive about the side effects? What if you are promised that no damage is caused? You sure will rock the new style? You would definitely let your defense lose! Won't you? Our hair talks even before we do. Doesn't it?

We reflect our inner health by various mediums, hair is one of them. The quality of our hair expresses our inner well-being. The nourishment our hair gets from our body, mentally and physically goes way beyond the capacity of any outside element. We need to handle our hair with lots of love and care to maintain the natural charm they echo. Finding the right hair consultant and products made out of natural ingredients is the ideal combination to reach our hair goals. We all have different hair types that require very specific types of products and care.

Our first responsibility is to maintain what we already have. The quality of hair usually depends on many factors which are necessary to know. Along with common guiding factors, each categorization of hair in this article is treated as a distinct point as we are letting the hair talk and also for the benefit of understanding our unique hair more clearly. Here we go:

1). Genes: Curly hair is the consequence of an autosomal dominant trait, in simple words, it means that one of the parents has straight whereas the other has curly. Although, it is not necessary that if one of the parents has curly hair the offspring must have curly hair by default! Curls and waves are of course passed down through genes. The development of certain hair conditions is literally written in our genetic make-up. However, sometimes the internal and external stressors we experience, call the shots too!

2). Porosity Factor: The absorption of a product into the follicle depends upon the porosity. It decides how oil, moisturizer, or any hair care product will seep in and out of hair strands. Hair with low porosity has cuticles that are close together and makes it difficult for the moisture to penetrate and escape. Highly porous hair on the contrary has gaps between cuticles and hence the movement in and out of the hair wall is easier.

3). Diet and hair: Knowing the right food source for supplying the best nourishment to your hair. Making the most favorite food out of those available at home on a regular basis. Incorporating them into the diet and focusing on the goodness you can derive. Food source: Fish, eggs, berries, spinach, papaya, nuts, avocados provide good nutrition. Nutrients: Vitamins, zinc, protein, minerals are a must in the food we select. Keeping a regular check is important to ensure we do not suffer any deficiency and hence the repercussions.

4). Coily and Kinky Hair: When the curl ranges from a very tightly coiled S-shaped to a Z-shaped kinky pattern the hair appears shorter because of its shrinking tendency. The curls can feel fine or coarse depending on the hair thickness. Coily and kinky hair is more vulnerable to damage by way of dryness. Keeping the hair highly hydrated and moisturized is key to hair health and retention of length!

5). Play of Hormones : It may sound fascinating and at times unbelievable that hormones have the power to shift the pattern of follicles and in turn the curls to a great extent. Phases like puberty, pregnancy, and menopause, and some stress for no-reason-related changes allow the hormonal play in the body, and many facets of health including hair get entangled in this process. Androgens increase in females change the shape of the follicle from round to flat and this can instigate a change in texture from straight to curly. Is it not news to be happy about for those who are envious of curly hair!

Styling techniques and products also play a role in our hair’s viability. Styling our hair confidently to look our most attractive self is something we all aim for. However, experimenting too much with chemicals and heat can lead to the deterioration of the natural makeup of our hair. Styling products should also be natural. A lot depends on your mood and the occasion you want to style your hair for. Checkout our cool hairstyling video.

When your hair is totally nourished and supported in its natural state how can it not become you? It is you!
